Standards
At Meningitis UK, we strive to achieve the highest standards in everything we do. As a registered charity in the UK, we abide by the legislation and guidance set by the Charity Commission. We are also a member of the following expert bodies and adhere to their regulations plus follow their codes of practice:
- Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC)
The leading organisation representing medical research charities in the UK. Members are requried to operate a rigorous peer review process when awarding research grants, evidenced through an audit every five years. We follow's the AMRC guidance about the funding and dissemination of medical research. - Information Standard
A scheme developed by the Department of Health to help the public identify trustworthy health and social care information easily. Meningitis UK is an accredited member of the Information Standard. - Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB)
The independent self-regulatory body for UK fundraising. The FRSB's aim is to raise standards and build public confidence in fundraising. As a member, we are committed to the highest standards of practice when raising funds, ensuring that our activities are open and fair, honest and legal. - Confederation of Meningitis Organisations (COMO)
A global body for meningitis organisations worldwide with over 20 member organisations working together and sharing best practice about the prevention and awareness of meningitis. - Pneumococcal Awareness Council of Experts (PACE)
A group of the world's leading experts on infectious diseases and vaccines, set up to raise awareness about pneumococcal disease and to advocate for its prevention through vaccination.
Our Scientifical Medical Advisory Panel ensure the quality of our research and provide advice about our research strategy and communications. We also work with our researchers and many other scientists and medical professionals across the country.
Partnerships
At Meningitis UK, we feel that there it great power in working together. As well as being members of the following bodies, we also work in collaboration with other leading organisations in areas relating to ourwork. These include:

We have a formal working relationship with the Trust which focuses on aftercare and treatment. They make people aware of our research to eradicate meningitis altogether and we refer people to their services when required.
