Meningitis UK's board of Trustees oversee the governance and overall direction of the organisation, plus guide and support the Senior Management team in implementing the charity's strategic vision and policies. They also ensure that the charity's funds are put to best use in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Meningitis UK is a member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and follows their recommendations on good governance which is a regular agenda item. Risk assessments are also evaluated on an annual basis.

New Trustees are appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees are mindful that the composition as a whole should include a range of skills to provide high quality effective governance and are constantly on the look out for potential new candidates. A Sub-Committee of two Trustees has also been set up to oversee Trustee Development.
