Who we are
Meningitis UK is a registered charity (No. 1076774 England & Wales). We are based at 25 Cleeve Wood Road, Downend, Bristol, BS16 2SF, UK. We can be contacted by telephone on 0117 373 73 73, by fax on 0117 373 73 74, or by email on information@meningitisuk.org .
Meningitis UK funds lifesaving research into finding a vaccine to eradicate meningitis. Meningitis UK has a sole focus - to find a vaccine to protect against all forms of meningitis and associated diseases. We receive no government funding, so your support is crucial in enabling us to continue our vital work to eradicate these diseases and the subsequent devastation they cause.
Your personal information
We will obtain personal information from you when you make an enquiry, send us an email or letter, make a donation to us or otherwise provide us with personal information.
What we do with the information
Any personal information which you provide to us, such as your name and address, telephone number and email address etc, will be used to fulfill your request, eg to send you information and awareness material, or to answer your queries about meningitis.
It will also be used for administrative purposes and to further our charitable aims, including for fundraising activities.
Very occasionally we may exchange lists with like-minded organisations. If you have used one of our online forms you will have had the choice to opt out of this and to opt out of further communication from us.
In the case of our online shop, your debit or credit card details will be used to process payment of merchandise ordered. These details are not stored by us, and are processed using PayPal's secure servers. PayPal have their own privacy policy which you can see while processing a transaction. If you have sent us an order via our online shop and you do not wish us to contact you again, about the work of the charity, or if you do not want your details on any list which may be exchanged in the future, please send us an email to information@meningitisuk.org to let us know.
If you have chosen to continue having contact with us, we will email or mail you from time to time with news of the charity's work. We also use supporter information to produce anonymous statistics, such as rates of meningitis, geographical areas affected, fundraising interests and so on.
How we will safeguard your information
All of our IT systems are secure and password protected, and all of our staff at Meningitis UK are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Data Protection Act.
How you can check what information we hold on you
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies amended. We may need to charge a small administrative fee for this service.
