The 4 Hour Challenge
Throughout April 2010 - the fourth month of the year - Meningitis UK is challenging businesses across the UK to step away from their spreadsheets to raise as much money as they can. All the money raised will go towards our Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign to eradicate meningitis - a disease that can kill in 4 hours. Sadly, this is a fact that many of our families can pay testament to.
This is a chance for you to get creative and come up with your own fun idea to raise money. You could link your event to the 4-hour theme by holding it over the course of 4 hours, or if a competition, you could award the winners 4 hours off work, or even auction your boss for 4 hours! Another idea could be to allow employees to ‘buy’ the opportunity to leave work at 4pm in return for a donation.
You don't have to tie your fundraising into the 4-hour theme. You could just organise a dress-down day, cake sale, raffle or coffee morning. We also have lots of suggestions for you to choose from if you want a little bit of inspiration.
As well as raising all-important money, taking part in the 4 Hour Challenge could help to strengthen bonds between your team, generate interesting publicity ideas, and will of course help us to eradicate meningitis for good.
Meningitis is the biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five in the UK, and has the power to kill in under 4 hours.
