Ways to get involved
Sponsorship: We offer a number of sponsorship opportunities which could help you reach a particular target audience. Opportunities include our annual Big Bug Hunt event targeting nursery and pre-schools across the UK and our marathon walks which attract hundreds of participants and get publicised throughout the country. We also produce a wide range of educational literature and materials to raise awareness of the symptoms and need to act quickly.
Cause-related marketing: This brings together the marketing objectives of your company and the charitable objectives of Meningitis UK. Publicly linking with Meningitis UK demonstrates corporate social responsibility and helps to build trust, which in turn will increase customer loyalty and help to open up your business to new audiences. It can also provide a unique selling point and a great PR story.
"Research has shown that 48 per cent of consumers showed an actual change in behaviour because of a Cause Related Marketing initiative (Business in the Community, 2003)"
On-pack/product promotions: CRM initiatives such as on-pack or in-store promotions can provide an incredible incentive for customers to select products or services to benefit the cause. Why not think about giving a percentage of a particular type of donation you sell to Meningitis UK.
Selling merchandise: If your company has retail outlets, we would be extemely grateful if you could sell our wristbands or pin badges on your counters.
Collections cans at point-of-sale: Likewise, we have collection cans which we can provide you with which people can put their spare pennies in when shopping at your branches. It's amazing how it all adds up and every bit of money you donate will take us one step closer to finding a vaccine and saving countless lives.
Recent Success
Early Learning Centre - Sponsorship
The Early Learning Centre very kindly sponsored the prizes for our national nusery and pre-school event (now the Big Bug Hunt). The promotional flyer - featuring their logo - was mailed to over 43,000 nurseries, pre-schools and toddler groups across the UK and the campaign received a substantial amount of media coverage. The vouchers provided by the Early Learning Centre provided a great incentive for groups to take part in the event, thus raising more money for Meningitis UK, and provided many nurseries across the country with extra learning materials.
Through the event, the parents of every child taking part were given a wallet-size symptoms card and the all the nurseries and pre schools involved received a pack of vital awareness literature. The Early Learning Centre's company ethos has a close synergy with Meningitis UK's own aim of increasing awareness within this high-risk under 5 age group so the partnership worked well and was very beneficial for both organisations.
Edward Ware Homes - Sponsorship
Edward Ware Homes sponsored Meningitis UK's 16-mile Summer Stroll from Bath to Bristol by donating £1,500 to cover the costs of the T-shirts, posters and other expenses such as a meal for all the walkers. The company's logo was included on the T-shirts, the support vehicles and all promotional literature and the event received a massive amount of local press coverage in which Edward Ware Homes were consistently mentioned as the official sponsor.
Servis - Joint Promotion
The domestic utlities company Servis have launched a special 'pink' fridge freezer as part of their new range. The colour pink symbolises Meningitis UK's branding and a donation will be made to Meningitis UK for each fridge freezer sold.
As a family brand, Servis' aim fits well with Meningitis UK and we hope this will enhance Servis as a brand which cares about the community and also increase sales.
