Great North Run

Great North Run

16th September 2012

The legendary Great North Run is the world's most popular half marathon, and the UK's biggest running event, which will take place on 16 September 2012. This event attracts over 50,000 runners who pound the streets between Newcastle and South Shields, on a route devised by former Olympian Brendan Foster. Renowned for its fantastic atmosphere, this race is not be missed!

Congratulations to all our fantastic Musketeers, who did a great job on the 18th September.
We have nearly collected all the sponsorship money for the event and our current total for the Great North Run is an amazing £14,578.48 - Well done! It was great to meet so many of you after the run in the charity village.

********Meningitis UK's Golden Bond places are now avaliable********

Meningitis UK are pleased to announce that we have 35 Golden Bond (guaranteed charity places) in this prestigious event and there is a lot of competition for them - so submit your Golden Bond application form today!

All we ask is that each Golden Bond runner pays a £30 registration fee and commits to raise a minimum of £350 to support the vital work of Meningitis UK. To join our 2012 Meningitis Musketeers team please complete our Golden Bond application form (word, opens in new window).

If you are lucky enough to get a place in the 2012 ballot and want to join the team, please complete the independent runner form (word).  Come and run solo, bring a team, wear fancy dress, the possibilities are endless! Join Meningitis UK in raising lifesaving funds for an unforgettable day. 2011 was a fantastic success and our Musketeers did us proud!

If you run for us you will receive one of our 'Meningitis Musketeers' vests (the coolest vest in the UK!), a fundraising pack full of encouraging ideas, sponsor forms, your own online fundraising page and lots of moral support. Plus the Meningitis UK team will be there to cheer you on and we will meet you at our marquee at the end of the race to celebrate!
