Schools

Every year, thousands of people in the UK are struck down by meningitis. Children and young adults in particular are the most at risk. Here at Meningitis UK we are working hard to fight the disease. Our aim is to support lifesaving research to eradicate all forms of meningitis and prevent the devastation it causes.

The support of schools and pre-schools around the UK is vital to us. Below are just some of the ways that your school or nursery could get involved. We also offer countless awareness materials and give talks to schools nationwide to raise awareness of the disease.

Raising awareness

Raising Awareness

As most teachers and parents are all too aware, meningitis can strike incredibly quickly and the highest incidence is in young people, so raising awareness amongst pupils, parents and staff is imperative as prompt treatment can literally mean the difference between life and death. We work closely with schools across the country to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease.

If there has been a case of meningitis in your school we would be happy to come along and talk to your pupils, teachers and parents and can arrange a 'question and answer' session to allay any fears they might have.

We offer a wide range of awareness literature including "Check the Symptoms" wallet-sized cards, fridge magnets, posters and leaflets.  You can request a sample pack with up to 30 symptoms cards through our online form. If you need more materials, please phone us on 0117 947 6320 or email information@meningitisuk.org and state the quantity you require.
