If you are a student and would like to raise money for a fantastic cause, why not come along to one of our street collections and Collect 4 Meningitis?

Your Rag can take up any of our permits in cities all over the country or, if you would like to do a raid in a certain place on a certain date, let us know and we'll do our best to get the permit for you!

MEGA-RAIDS 2010 - 2011

We are approaching an exciting and busy time for all our RAG's; what with Spencer's Collection looming and London Fortunes creeping up this is a brilliant time of year!

Spencers Collection

Saturday 20th November

Meningitis UK Spencers collection Calling all RAG's we need you to come along to this year's MEGA raid in Bristol. Spencer's collection was a huge success last year but we need all of you students to pitch in and make it even better than ever! This year the collection is going to be on Saturday 20th November... so make sure you've got your hats and gloves at the ready! We will provide accommodation and food for everyone who takes part and an extra pat on the back for any one brave enough for fancy dress!

London Fourtunes

End of February

This is Meningitis UK's BIGGEST raid and we always get loads of interest from RAGs, which is brilliant! It also means that it's never too early to get in contact and let us know that you want to get invloved. For 2011 it will be taking place near the end of February and we will provide accommodation and food to all that attend.

We are all getting geared up for the new start of term and are keen to get all you students out on the streets strutting your stuff and raising money for Meningtis UK! So here are the list of permits we have to fill.

2009 - 2010 Successes

Everyone at Meningitis UK would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all the RAG's that came out collected for us! It has been a brilliant year and the total is now up to £35,685!!!! This is a huge amount of money and will boost our 'Search 4 a Vaccine' appeal. Once again thank you it couldn't have been done without all of you!

Leeds RAG 3 Peaks Challenge

A group of 46 students from Leeds University took on the challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon in aid of Meningitis UK. This brave bunch tackled with snow and very sore legs to complete the challenge in just 24 hours!! So a massive well done to all of you for doing such a brilliant job.

A special thanks goes out to Dave, Tom, Chas and Jamie who rallied everyone up and raised a fantastic amount of £5677.60! This will go towards our 'Search 4 a Vaccine' appeal and will make a huge difference!

Other events

As well as Collecting 4 Meningitis, you might be interested in holding an event to raise money for us. Here are a few ideas to get you started...

Bungee jump Get sponsored to take part in this amazing but slightly nerve-racking experience. Not for the faint-hearted!
Firewalk Get sponsored to walk over a bed of burning coals but don't get burnt. A phenomenal and perfectly safe experience.
Quiz night Charge people to take part (either as individuals or as teams), ask a few questions, and give the winner(s) a prize and raise lots of money!
Jailbreak Raise money by getting sponsored to get as far away from a start point as possible within a specified time frame, without paying for any form of transport. In the past, people have been as far as the Caribbean or Hong Kong!
Scavenger hunt Each team is given a list of items to collect and challenges to complete. The winner is either the first team to complete the list, or the team with the highest score after a certain period. As with the quiz night, charge teams to enter and offer a prize to the winner.

We have a variety of event suggestions which you may be interested in, or if you have an idea yourself, we would be more than happy to help you out as best we can. These events can be great fun and, in some cases, will leave you with memories that you will never forget.
