Spring/Summer 2011

Here are some of the events our supporters held in Spring/Summer 2011:

Rachel and AbbyA big thank-you to Abby Lema-Dalton and Fidel Lema who held a football day and charity ball in memory of her daughter Eloise, raising an impressive total of £21,000! Hundreds turned out to watch the Leeds Allstars vs Liverpool Allstars celebrity football match at Elland Road, which included celebrities from Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and the Harry Potter star Mathew Lewis. So far over £28,000 has been raised in memory of Eloise, who died from pneumococcal meningitis aged eight months in December 2009.

 

Rachel Duck and familyRachael Duck and family have raised a fantastic total £3,580 in memory of Martin Duck. They held a quiz and race night, a Time 4 Tea and took part in our Bridlington to Brighton Walk. So far over £10,000 has been raised in Martin’s memory since he died in 1994.

 

 

Claverham Cricket ClubThanks to Claverham Cricket Club who hiked up Snowdon in memory of Ruby Burrell. Their fundraising total currently stands at £3,038, with money still coming in. The community in Yatton have rallied round to raise over £13,500 in memory of the 21-month-old toddler.

 

 

Taylor RunMark and Jenny Smith organised the Taylor Run 2010 - a car rally in memory of their son Taylor. Five teams travelled 2,000 miles in cars worth less than £500 and raised a total of £2,047. So far over £28,000 has been raised in Taylor’s memory. Mark and Jenny are already organising the Taylor Run 2011.


The Johnson familyThanks to the Johnson family who raised £2,080 at the Ryan Johnson Memorial Birthday Celebration. So far the Johnsons have raised over £26,000 in Ryan’s memory through the Summer Stroll, selling wristbands and holding events – well done!   

 

 

Team D - Beth, Rose, Sue and GillWell done to Team D who ran the Big Fun Run in Southampton raising £1,695 in memory of David Fay, who died a year ago from meningoencephalitis aged 31. Team D will also be taking part in the London 10,000 on 30th May. 

 

 

Wedding BallThanks to Alice and Bryan Austin who raised £5,036 at their annual Wedding Ball in memory of their daughter Gillian Redman and granddaughter Grace. Thanks also to Naz Lewis, a friend of Gillian's, who's company Bck2workmum sponsored the event this year.

The Keelings with SteveThe Liam Keeling Memorial Committee organised a sporting fundraising night in memory of the popular youngster which raised £7,000, taking the total raised in Liam’s memory to over £70,000. Liam’s family and the committee have many more events lined up. A huge thank you for their ongoing and phenomenal fundraising efforts!

 

Jackie Hill presents researchers with new equipmentThanks to Jackie Hill who has now funded eight pieces of high-tech research equipment across the country totalling over £26,500 since her daughter Corrine Rae died from meningitis in April 2001.

 

 

 

Avon Mega Abseil DayThanks to all those who took part in our Avon Mega Abseil Day at Bristol Avon Gorge on 23rd October 2010 – the event raised £3,049!

 

 

 

When Tracy Saunders’ mum Chris broke her knee, the family had the unusual idea of asking people for donations in return for the privilege of signing her cast! They managed to raise £90 celebration of grandson Callum Mills.

Trish and Jon Paige who have raised an amazing £12,666 in memory of their daughter Lucie through a variety of fundraising events ranging from cake sales and marathons to transatlantic crossings!


Fairfield Raptor Football Club
who have raised £489 so far in memory of Helen Roth.

Roz Conyngham held a Babster Benefit Gig in memory of her god-daughter Amelie Clipson-Smith. £2,041 was raised at the event which featured performances from three bands.

Donna Dawson, Roy Radcliffe, Katie Corry and Kaine Radcliffe for their continued fundraising efforts. So far, they have now raised more than £3,000 in Leo Caiden Radcliffe’s memory, with more to come in.

Rocky Point County Music Club who donated £31,170– the club has now closed and this was the total they had left in their funds.

Friends and family of Chris Pegler who held an 11-mile walk in his memory and raised over £6,000.

Sam Vincent who raised over £7,000 by swimming the English Channel! He completed the 22-mile challenge in just over 10 hours on what would have been his brother Ben’s 28th birthday. 

Halifax Battalion Boy’s Brigade who raised £1,391 in memory of Thomas Ogden.

North Coast Intergrated College who raised £2,000 in celebration of Louise Greer.  

Nick Leak, Gareth James and Richard Bingham who all ran the New York Marathon in memory of Dylan Stott on 7th November. Well done!
