Community Groups

If you are part of a community group, why not encourage your members to help raise vital funds for Meningitis UK and awareness of meningitis?

We never fail to be impressed by the hard work, dedication and inspiration of groups who fundraise in the community. Over the years we have had incredible support from Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, Round Tables, Inner Wheels, Lions Clubs, Ladies Circles, Masons, Buffalo Groups, Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies, Churches, Bike Clubs and many more.

Here are a few ways in which you might like to get involved...

Events

Organising an event is a great way to get everyone together, as well as help raise money for the charity. The choice of events is endless. In the past, groups have supported us by putting on firework displays, dinners, coffee mornings, copper miles and jumble sales to name a few.

For lots of tips, ideas and information, please download Meningitis UK's ‘Guide to Organising your Own Event' or get in touch with Emily Knight, our Community Fundraising Officer on 0117 373 73 73 or email emilyknight@meningitisUK.org

We can provide you with all the support and resources you may need, such as balloons, posters and collection boxes to help make your event a real success!

Arrange a Talk

Steve Dayman, our Chief Executive, has been involved with the meningitis cause for over 24 years. Since losing his 14-month-old son Spencer to meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia in 1982, Steve's hope has always been to find a vaccine to prevent other people going through the same awful experience that he endured. Steve visits families across the country who have experienced the devastation of the disease and would be very happy to come to talk to your group and tell you more about his story and the work of the charity. To arrange a talk, please phone Emily on 0117 373 73 73.

Marathon Walks

Supporting our marathon walks as they pass through your local area is a great way for your community group to get involved. Other groups have teamed up and got sponsored to walk a stage of the route or have held an event and presented the cheque to the walk team as they pass through.

Get further information on Meningitis UK's upcoming walks and see if the route goes through your area

Awareness

If you would like to help us increase awareness of this devastating disease, we have a whole host of awareness materials which we would be delighted to send you. Place your request for awareness materials now
