If would like to raise money, but want to do something other than doing a sponsored run or walk, why not do your own thing? Organising your own event to raise money is hugely rewarding and is often a great way to spend time with friends and family and meet new people.

Dress to impress

Whilst on a camping holiday in Newquay, Jeff and Lin Harrop and their family (pictured) took time out to hold a collection at the first showing of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean' sequel in Truro to raise money in memory of their daughter Jessica who died of meningitis aged 21 in 2000. The family, who are big fans of the film, dressed up as pirates and donned their patches and waved their pistols to raise over £350 worth of booty.
Football Mania

Tracy Cox organised an annual head-to-head football match in memory of her son Ashley Scriven, who died from meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia in 1995 aged seven. Paul Snow (left) whose daughter recovered from meningococcal septicaemia in 1999 age 9 months, cycled 140 miles from Wokington to Sunderland in early September together with friends Shaun Hunt and Ian Tasker. This three day event raised a magnificent £3,500.
