Meningitis is a terrifying disease, which can strike and kill in hours and particularly affects students.

If you are a student and would like to raise money for a fantastic cause, why not come along to one of our street collections and Collect 4 Meningitis?
Your Rag can take up any of our permits in cities all over the country or, if you would like to do a raid in a certain place on a certain date, let us know and we'll do our best to get the permit for you!

Other Events
As well as Collecting 4 Meningitis, you might be interested in holding an event to raise money for us. Some possibilities are...
- Bungee jump: Get sponsored to take part in this amazing but slightly nerve-racking experience. Not for the faint-hearted!
- Firewalk: Get sponsored to walk over a bed of burning coals but don't get burnt. A phenomenal and perfectly safe experience.
- Quiz night: Charge people to take part (either as individuals or as teams), ask a few questions, and give the winner(s) a prize and raise lots of money!
- Jailbreak: Raise money by getting sponsored to get as far away from a start point as possible within a specified time frame, without paying for any form of transport. In the past, people have been as far as the Caribbean or Hong Kong!
- Scavenger hunt: Each team is given a list of items to collect and challenges to complete. The winner is either the first team to complete the list, or the team with the highest score after a certain period. As with the quiz night, charge teams to enter and offer a prize to the winner.
We have a variety of event suggestions which you may be interested in, or if you have an idea yourself, we would be more than happy to help you out as best we can. These events can be great fun and, in some cases, will leave you with memories that you will never forget.

2008/09
All our old Rag fundraising favourites will be back, with a slight shuffle on timings. London Fourtunes will now take place in March 2009, with good ol' Leed Lolly moving to November 2009. The 2008/09 ‘season' will kick off once again with the Summer Tour. Join us from 28th July to 2nd August, when the collecting permits will include Norwich, Cambridge and London.
March will see the fully-fledged London Fourtunes take place. Over 2 days we will take on the City of London and Westminster, confirmed details to be posted soon. Last year, as part of our thank you to the raggies we ran an exciting competition, and Paul Mills was the lucky winner. Paul got a voucher for www.buyagift.com, enabling him to choose for himself a session of Skydiving, Driving a Monster Truck, Rallying or a Day at The Spa. Tempted? 2007/08
Our 2007/08 raids have been a whirlwind of fundraising antics, including WINNING the near-legendary Meningitis à Trois competition!
This year's collections started with the Summer Tour in East Anglia. Five hardcore collectors grafted the whole week and 13 others joined in for a day. We raised a mighty fine total of £8,047.98 which included £3,423.59 between 5 London Tube stations (you've got to love the totals you can get there). Thanks also to Karni for coming to Cambridge and being upstaged by Toria McCall's Granny who was their best collector on the day. Well done Anne!
The year's Megaraids saw raggies converge on Bristol in December, for Spencer's Christmas Collection, London in January for the London Fourtunes, and Leeds in March for the Leeds Lolly. Cambridge Rag were also out in full force on their Christmas Tour, raising a phenomenal £12,731.44 for us, and Bath Rag raised an impressive £4,000 on their Easter Tour. Hectic weeks of collecting, socialising, and...well, what goes on tour stays on tour...
The year culminated in the second annual Meningitis à Trois - a 3-way head to head competition between Meningitis UK, the Meningitis Trust, and the Meningitis Research Foundation. After a disappointing 3rd place last year, we stormed to an emphatic victory in 2008 in sunny Bath, raising over £2,600. The whole day was a remarkable success, raising over £5,200 towards the fight against meningitis. Many thanks to all who came down, to Bristol Rag for hosting us, and to Simon ‘Tigger' Painter for providing the trophy.
So all in all, the total amount raised in all for the 2007/08 Rag year was a fantastic £52,538.88. Well done and a massive thanks to everyone involved!
