Winter Awareness Campaign 2012

Our Winter Awareness Campaign, entitled 'Meningitis: Trust Your Instincts', urges people to trust their instincts if they suspect a case of meningitis.

We recently commissioned a survey which reveals that the UK public trusts GPs far more than other professions such as bankers, politicians, and journalists. However, only 25 per cent of people will trust their instincts and take further action if they are still worried after receiving advice from a doctor.

Cases of meningitis traditionally peak in the colder months and we are advising people to make sure they know the symptoms and keep checking if they suspect signs of the disease which can kill in hours. Have the confidence to trust your instincts and to question the doctor if you suspect meningitis or if at all in doubt.

You can find out more about the survey and the awareness campaign in our 'Meningitis: Trust Your Instincts' press release.
