Dr Agam Jung, University of Liverpool
Dr Jung and Prof. Solomon from the Brain Infections Group at the University of Liverpool are undertaking a research study to assess patient experiences of viral meningitis.
In contrast to bacterial meningitis, viral meningitis has remained relatively neglected in terms of research and treatment guidelines are unclear.
Dr Jung and Prof. Solomon from the Brain Infections Group at the University of Liverpool are undertaking a research study to assess patient experiences of viral meningitis in order to better understand the impact of the disease on patient quality of life and society.
The research group have been collecting data from patients who have been diagnosed with viral meningitis through a number of sources including Meningitis UK's website. Participants were asked to complete a number of questions relating to their experience and data was collected anonymously.
The research study aims to understand how viral meningitis impacts people's quality of life and society. This will give valuable insights about the burden of disease and how treatment could possibly be improved in the future.
The data collection ended on 30th November 2010 and will now be analysed. We hope to share the results of the study soon.
The outcomes of this project will appear here after completion.
