Bank holiday fun day for Ryan

A BANK holiday family fun day is to be held in memory of tragic Bristol toddler Ryan Johnson.
The three-year-old's sudden death from meningitis in April shocked all who knew him and an impressive £15,000 has already been raised for Bristol-based Meningitis UK and its vaccine research work.
Now Ryan's Day looks set to boost their fundraising efforts even further thanks to a host of lucrative auction and raffle prizes.
The fun day's being held at the Railway Tavern in Fishponds on August 29 and everyone's welcome to enjoy the BBQ, children's activities, face painting and fundraising action.
It kicks off at 3pm, with the action and raffle scheduled from 5pm.
Ryan's mum Sarah, who's been organising the day with friend Carmel Richards, said: "We've managed to drum up some really exciting prizes including a hot air balloon ride, a Liverpool FC flag signed by Steven Gerrard and lots of meal vouchers.
"It should be a good day. We've been quite overwhelmed by the support we've received from the whole community.
"I think that when something like this happens so suddenly it really brings home to people why we need to find this vaccine as soon as possible.
All money raised will be added to the tribute fund set up in Ryan's memory to help support Meningitis UK's Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign, which aims to raise £7million to fund vital research into developing a vaccine against all forms of meningitis.
