Charity calls for new trustees

02.03.11

NATIONAL charity Meningitis UK is searching for trustees to help in its fight against the deadly disease.

The Bristol-based organisation funds lifesaving research to find a vaccine to eradicate all forms of meningitis.

It is looking to recruit up to three new board members who will ideally have experience in financial planning, fundraising, human resources or risk management to compliment the skills of the existing five trustees.

Meningitis UK is the leading charity solely focussed on supporting research into the development of meningitis vaccines in the UK, having raised over £6.5million since it began in 1999.

Its chief executive Steve Dayman has just received an MBE from the Queen in recognition of his dedication to raising awareness and funding research into vaccine development since his son Spencer died from the disease in 1982.

Prospective trustees should be committed to Meningitis UK's mission and be prepared to work with enthusiasm and energy.

This voluntary role is an exciting opportunity to help shape the strategy of a thriving and growing medium sized charity. The board meets between formally between four and six times a year.

The deadline for expressions of interest is March 31.

For further details on the role of the trustees visit www.meningitisuk.org/trustees or call 0117 373 7373.
