A CHARITY single to raise money for Meningitis UK has just been released in memory of a popular young musician.
Friends of teenager Mark Tanton, from Northampton, have recorded a song entitled Gone Too Soon in his memory to raise money to fund research into finding a vaccine for the devastating disease.
He played the bass in Towcester Rock School Band 'Behind Closed Doors' and now his fellow bandmates have written and recorded a song in his memory.
Gone Too Soon is now available to buy on iTunes for 79p with all proceeds going towards Meningitis UK.
The band, which includes Harry Mockett, Will Roberts, Richie Haynes and James Blunsdon, hope to get the record in the top 100 while raising vital funds for charity.
Mark was in Year 10 at Campion School when he caught a rare strain of meningitis, meningococcal group Y, in September and died aged 14.
Guitarist Harry, aged 12, said: "We wrote the song for him and the song is about him. Mark was a really good player and I don't think we will replace him."

Over £10,000 has now been raised in memory of Mark through a variety of different events and fundraising endeavours.
Every penny raised will go towards Meningitis UK's Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign, which aims to raise £7million to fund vital research into developing a vaccine against all forms of meningitis.
Steve Dayman, who founded Meningitis UK after his son Spencer died from the disease, said: "We think the Gone Too Soon single is really excellent and sounds very professional. To have it on iTunes is really impressive and we hope everyone gives it their backing by downloading it.
"Everyone's efforts in memory of Mark have been astounding and we're very grateful for the continued support. To raise so much money in such a short period is no mean feat.
"What happened to Mark sadly illustrates the speed at which meningitis can strike, with very few symptoms to distinguish the disease from more common illnesses.
"The devastation experienced by his family reinforces the importance of finding a vaccine sooner rather than later.
"Every penny they raise will go towards this single focus and our ultimate goal to spare people the heartache of losing a loved one to meningitis."
