Dr Phil Hammond urges 'Trust Your Instincts'

 

GP, writer, broadcaster and Meningitis UK patron Dr Phil Hammond is backing Meningitis UK's Trust Your Instincts campaign:

"I am urging people to follow their gut feeling if they suspect a case of meningitis and seek urgent medical attention.

"Cases of the disease traditionally peak this time of year and I am backing Meningitis UK's 'Trust Your Instincts' campaign encouraging people to call their GP if they suspect meningitis.  

"As a GP, meningitis is the disease I fear misdiagnosing most. It can strike with incredible speed and its symptoms are notoriously difficult to spot.

"I urge you to know the symptoms and if you suspect meningitis, keep checking for signs of the disease, as it can develop so quickly.

"You know yourselves and your children best.

"Please keep pushing at the doctor's surgery if you still suspect meningitis after receiving advice. "
