Five-year audit approves 'best' research projects
28/07/11
Meningitis UK has been given the official stamp of approval that its research projects are the best value for money, at the highest standards.
As a charity, we want to ensure that the money raised by our dedicated supporters for vaccine research to eradicate meningitis is used most effectively.
Every five years, the Association of Medical Research Charities, of which Meningitis UK is a member, audits the way we select our research projects.
We seek the opinions of international experts - professional peers to our scientific and medical advisors to ensure the accountability, impartiality and high standard of research proposals.
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Best Practice certificate following completion of the Peer Review Audit 2010 to 2011.
This means we have demonstrated to our supporters, donors, trusts, researchers and the government that our research projects are the best they can be.
Meningitis UK Chief executive Steve Dayman said: "Receiving the Best Practice certificate confirms what we striving for - the best possible research to help achieve our goal of eradicating meningitis and associated diseases to save lives."
