Go Zumba crazy for charity

A NEW dance fitness craze is being embraced for a charity fundraising event at Farrington Golf Club this Sunday.
People are being invited to a two hour outdoor Zumba class where there will be five instructors on hand to lead the fun routines.
Zumba is a workout which combines Latin music with easy-to-follow dance moves to create a unique fitness programme.
The fundraising event is the brain child of Caroline Parr, business development manager at the golf club.
She chose to support Meningitis UK after her nephew fell ill with the disease when he was six months old.
Captains at the golf club also nominated the RNLI to receive half the profits, which Caroline hopes will top £1,000.
She said: "We've just started to have Zumba classes twice a week and they've proved really popular. I think it's becoming quite a big craze because people have lots of fun whilst getting a good work out.
"I chose to support Meningitis UK as my nephew Joshua had meningitis 10 years ago. He was dreadfully ill and was rushed into intensive care after his parents discovered a rash developing.
"Thankfully he has made a full recovery but it was a very frightening time which we don't want any other families to go through, which is why helping to find a vaccine is so important."
All the money raised will go towards Meningitis UK's Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign which aims to raise £7million to fund vital research into developing a vaccine against Meningitis B - the most common form of meningitis in the UK, which can kill in under four hours.
Steve Dayman, who founded Meningitis UK after his son Spencer died from the disease, said: "The efforts of Caroline and everybody at Farrington Golf Club are greatly appreciated. I'm sure the Zumba event will be great fun and would urge anyone who wants to experience something new to go along.
"Every penny raised will go towards our single focus - to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis and save thousands of lives in the future."
Tickets cost £5 and can be pre-booked by calling 01761 451596 or bought on the day, which runs from 10am to 12noon at Farrington Golf Club, Marsh Lane in Farrington Gurney, near Bristol.
