Glastonbury has helped to raise more than £7,000 in memory of a girl who died at the beginning of the year.
Jasmine Clare died in Yeovil District Hospital following a short battle against meningitis on January 9.
She was sent home from St John's Infant School, Glastonbury, at lunchtime on January 8, with flu-like symptoms. Her condition deteriorated to such an extent that her parents Simon and Dina, 38, called an ambulance at 10.30pm.
Paramedics took her to Yeovil, where doctors diagnosed meningitis. Jasmine was due to be transferred to Bristol Children's Hospital but doctors were unable to save her.
She died in the early hours of Saturday morning - just 12 hours after falling ill.
The family say they have been overwhelmed with messages of support from all over the UK, with a Facebook group set up by Jasmine's sister Ellie already attracting more than 2,000 members, many of whom have shared their sympathy, and their own stories of meningitis.
Pupils at St Benedict's School in Glastonbury raised more than £1,300 towards the town's fundraising efforts after staff and pupils ran, walked and hopped 400 miles around the school's playing field during the Meningitis Mega Marathon held in June.
Jasmine's mum Dina was on hand to begin proceedings by starting the first lap of the school field when she blew a whistle at 9am.
