Last call for Avon Gorge abseilers

08.10.10

DAREDEVILS are being urged to abseil down the Avon Gorge, Bristol, for a good cause later this month.

Bristol-based Meningitis UK has organised the adrenaline-fuelled challenge for October 23, when brave participants will descend 200ft down the landmark cliffs with expert guidance.

Money raised on the day will go towards Meningitis UK's vaccine research work to eradicate the deadly disease.

Toya Champ, events fundraiser at the charity, said: "We're really excited about this - it will literally be the biggest step of people's lives as they start their descent.

"The cost of the abseil is just £34 and there is no minimum sponsorship goal. We just ask that people raise as much as they can towards our vaccine research work."

Money raised from the abseil will go towards Meningitis UK's Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign which funds cutting-edge research to find a vaccine to eradicate all forms of the disease.

Entry forms need to be submitted by October 15 and registration is £34 plus any additional sponsorship.

For further details and the registration form, please visit www.meningitisuk.org or call Toya on 0117 373 73 73.
