Meningitis reminder for parents as illness strikes

Parents have been reminded to be on the lookout for signs of meningitis after four cases were reported in the West Midlands.

Three children displayed symptoms of the disease at Wodensfield Primary School in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton. Another child in the city also contracted meningitis in the minor outbreak. The Health Protection Agency has confirmed the youngsters had Meningitis B for which there is no vaccine. All children have now fully recovered, but parents are being reminded to be alert to the symptoms.
