Night of fun and fundraising raises over £1,000

A TRIO of mums raised over £1,000 at a fundraising night to help beat meningitis.
Around 150 people attended the evening at Hanson's Social Club in Chipping Sodbury, which was supported by many local businesses.
It was organised by friends Katrina Rolls, Faye Clark and Lucy Whiting, who chose to raise money for Bristol-based Meningitis UK and its vaccine research work to eradicate the killer disease.
Katrina, from Downend, said: "It was a really fun evening. We had various games for the children, including a dance competition, and we collected money through a raffle and auction which had some amazing prizes donated by local businesses.
"The three of us have got five young children between us and Lucy and I are nurses so we felt strongly about raising money for Meningitis UK and it's good work.
"To raise over £1,000 is brilliant so a huge thank you to everyone who got involved and supported the evening."
The three mums are also doing a skydive for Meningitis UK in April when they hope to add to this total.
They wish to thank Stapleton School of Dance, Calcott Manor, The Bell pub in Old Sodbury, Greenfield Florist in Chipping Sodbury, Tortworth Court Hotel, Out of the Blue, Cloud Nine, Tesco and Hanson's Social Club for providing the venue free of charge.
All the money raised will go towards Meningitis UK's Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign, which aims to raise £7million to fund vital research into developing a vaccine against all forms of the deadly disease.
Steve Dayman, who founded Meningitis UK after his son Spencer died from the disease, said: "We're hugely grateful to Katrina, Lucy and Faye for raising so much money through their fundraising night.
"Every penny raised will go towards our single focus – to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis and save thousands of lives in the future."
