Summer fair in memory of Amelia

A NURSERY held a summer fair to raise funds for meningitis research after a little girl tragically died from the virus.
Famous footballer Luther Blissett was on hand to start the fun at Fledglings Day Nursery in Berkhamsted.
Staff were inspired to host a fundraiser following the sudden death of four year old Amelia Loczy, of Queens Road, Berkhamsted in May this year.
Her grandmother Rita Wright works at the nursery in Chesham Road as a room leader.
Assistant manager Sandra Firth said: "It was something we were thinking of doing but obviously when Rita heard the devastating news about her granddaughter we thought we would go ahead with it."
The event, held on Saturday in memory of little Amelia, is expected to raise around £2,000 which will be split between Meningitis UK and Meningitis Research.
Crowds turned out for children's games, stalls, a raffle, silent auction and a vintage car ride around the grounds.
Nursery manager Maryann Dennehy said: "It has been a real pleasure for the nursery to organise this fair in memory of Milly.
"Meningitis is a cruel and fast illness that can strike at any time. Anything that helps fight this condition has to be worthwhile."
