Supporters urged to put their best foot forward to beat meningitis

MENINGITIS UK Chief Executive Steve Dayman is preparing for his 30th marathon walk - and he needs you to support him along the way.
The latest autumn walk stretches from Bridlington, in East Yorkshire, to Brighton on the south coast.
It's a 334 mile challenge over 16 days which aims to raise £50,000.
The walk begins on October 2 and passes through Driffield, Beverly, Goole, Thorne, Bawtry, Retford, Southwell, Nottingham, Loughborough, Hinkley, Southam, Banbury, Woodstock, Wantage, Newbury, Basingstoke, Alton, Petworth and Shoreham before ending in Brighton on October 17.
Steve passed his 12,000th mile walked in memory of his son Spencer during a 201 mile trek across Northern Ireland in May.
He hopes to be joined by over 100 supporters for the latest challenge and said: "We would be very grateful if people could join the walk at any stage for any distance.
"Just one mile would make a difference. They can also support us by sponsoring friends or making a donation.
"Meningitis is a devastating disease which causes so much pain and suffering. Six families a week face the heartbreak of losing a loved one to meningitis.
"Every penny raised on this walk is so important in enabling us to continue our vital work and will take us one step closer to finding a vaccine and saving lives."
Everyone who takes part in the walk will receive a free commemorative T-shirt, an information pack including handy tips on how to prepare for the event and raise money, sponsorship forms and support from the charity's fundraising team.
