Tractor parade's pulling power for charity

A COLOURFUL cavalcade of tractors chugged along East Yorkshire's country lanes for a charity fundraiser.
Tractors throughout the ages were a feature of the road run, which was in aid of Meningitis UK, which aims to find a vaccine for the killer disease.
Owners drove 54 tractors, from the 1940s to the present day, along a 50-mile route from the Farm Shop in Hutton Cranswick, near Driffield.
The event was organised by tractor enthusiast Harry Berriman, whose 17-year-old grandson, Michael Dodgson, died from meningitis in March 2005.
He said: "Michael loved tractors, especially going to vintage ploughing matches with me, and his sudden death devastated his family.
"I felt that one way to raise funds for Meningitis UK was to hold the tractor road run and I was delighted with the turnout on Sunday.
"We had people coming with their tractors from as far afield as Bridlington, Withernsea and Howden and we hope to have raised more than £800."
The column of tractors followed a route across the Wolds, including Middleton- on-the-Wolds, North Dalton, Millington and Huggate.
Mr Berriman said: "We had good support at the Farm Shop and from people along the route, which was brilliant."
Trainee agricultural technician Michael, of Bainton, near Driffield, died suddenly in Hull Royal Infirmary just two days after being taken ill.
Hutton Cranswick businessman John Scholey, who took his vintage international tractors, said everybody was delighted to support such a worthwhile cause.
